Access to City & County Codes, RCW/WAC and Court Decisions

New Server for Legal Codes

In October 2004, all legal codes hosted by MRSC were moved to another server. MRSC hosts Washington State Supreme and Appellate Court Decisions, the Revised Code of Washington and the Washington Administrative Code, and various City and County Codes. If you have any problems accessing any of the codes, please follow the instructions below or give them to your network administrator.

Common Problems With Code Access: Firewalls, Cookies and JavaScript

Firewalls: If you are experiencing a problem with accessing codes on MRSC's server, you may need to configure your firewall or have your network administrator do so. Please allow the firewall to permit requests to the IP address "206.40.147.186", the domain name "www.mrsc.org" and also "search.mrsc.org". If you are running ZoneAlarm as your software firewall, and having problems, open ZoneAlarm, go into the site list, under privacy settings, and allow third party cookies. This will generally fix your problems. Cookies: Whether you are using a firewall or not, Web browser cookies must be enabled to run searches; please check your cookie settings if you have any problems with search results. JavaScript: Finally, please make sure that you have JavaScript enabled, as you will experience problems without it. If you have tried these steps, and still need help, or if you have any other questions, please contact us at mrsc@mrsc.org or by phone at 206-625-1300.

Navigation

Drop Down Menus

Below you will see an example of a drop down menu. When you float your cursor over the subject headings that run across the top of the page, you will see that a menu of options "drops down".

menu help example

If you move the cursor down the drop down menu, you may click on one of the options and go directly to that specific page. If there is an arrow located to the right of the option, this indicates that there is a sub-menu with further options. Move the cursor over to the second pop down menu in order to access the additional options. Click on an option to go directly to that page.

Alternatives to the Drop Down Menus

If you prefer not to use the drop down menus, you may click on any one of the subject headings running across the top of the page. This will take you to a subject specific page with a list of contents, from which you may navigate to the desired page. Simply click on one of the underlined options.

Crumbs

Crumbs are visual cues as to the user's location within a site. Crumbs allow for navigation (by clicking on the text), visual orientation (the user can see where he/she is within the site) and non-visual access (the text is accessible to screen readers, and quite easy to interpret by the user).

Search

The Search MRSC box is always located in the top right corner of every MRSC page.

Search tips:

  • Use quotation marks to search on a phrase: "impact fee"
  • Use an asterisk to search on variations of a word: fee* searches for fee and fees
  • Combine (1) and (2) above to search on variations of a phrase: "impact fee*" searches on "impact fee" and "impact fees"
