Domestic Violence in the Workplace

On October 1, 1996 Governor Lowry issued a press release concerning domestic violence in the workplace. The text of that press release is posted here. We recommend that all cities review the information in the press release, and consider options for the city to cope with this nationwide problem. Also posted at this site are sample domestic violence personnel policies, drafted for use by state agencies. With minor modifications, those policies could serve as an excellent draft for city council discussions, and perhaps adoption.

For additional information concerning domestic violence in the workplace, you can contact either MRSC, the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence (360) 352-4029 or the National Domestic Violence Hotline (800) 799 3224.
