Human Services Administration
The managing of human services (also known to some municipalities as "community services," a term more frequently employed these days) has largely been a responsibility of federal, state and county governments. But as these budgets are decreasing and poverty statistics increase, a number of cities are taking a greater role in assuring their citizens' basic needs (food, clothing, shelter and health) are addressed. Larger Washington cities have dedicated departments to meet this challenge. Smaller cities mostly contract out to non-profit or private service providers. The information presented at this site is intended to be a resource to those cities seeking materials addressing human service issues.
