Introduction to MRSC Website for Special Purpose Districts

In the 2009 legislative session, the Washington State Legislature eliminated funding for special purpose district program that was started July 1, 2007. In lieu of state funding, MRSC has implemented a new model to provide services to Washington special purpose districts. See the April 2010 Announcement for Washington Special Purpose Districts.

MRSC is entering into contracts directly with special purpose district associations to provide services to member districts. Currently we are contracting with the Association of Washington Public Hospital Districts (AWPHD to serve all the public hospital districts in the state; with the Washington Association of Sewer & Water Districts (WASWD) to serve water-sewer districts that are general members of WASWD; and with the Enduris risk management pool to serve its special purpose district members which include some of the cemetery, conservation, diking and drainage, fire protection, health, irrigation, mosquito control, park, port, library, water-sewer, weed, public utility and many other types of districts, boards, and other governmental agencies, authorities, entities.

Introduction to MRSC and its Programs

This page was created as a welcoming page and provided an introduction to MRSC's services and as an aid to access the information on MRSC's webpages of interest to Washington's special purpose governments. Our Web site contains nearly 2000 subject pages, 7000 sample documents, MRSC publications, and other reference material related to local government administration. Many of these will be useful to special district governments who are not members of the associations with which MRSC is contracting as well as those who were previously served under the program funded by the state that was terminated. MRSC provides a forum for information sharing among Washington local governments through its Web site.
