Fairs in Washington State

This page lists agricultural related fairs as defined by Washington statutes. Some of the websites include links to the fair boards, nonprofit associations that the counties contract with to operate fairs, event facilities, and various application forms.

The provisions in the state statutes relating to fairs note that it is in the public interest to hold agricultural fairs, including the exhibition of livestock and agricultural produce of all kinds, as well as related arts and manufactures; including products of the farm home, educational contests, displays and demonstrations designed to train youth and to promote the welfare of farm people and rural living. Fairs also contribute to the economy. A study commissioned by the state legislature estimated the fiscal contributions of Washington state fairs to the state and local economy. See Washington State Fairs and other Fairground Activities: Economic Impact Analysis (Adobe Acrobat Document), prepared for the Washington State Department of Agriculture by Northern Economics, June 2007. The purpose of this report was to estimate the economic impacts that accrued to the state in 2005 from the network of agricultural-based fairs and other fairground events.
