Request for Qualifications for the City of Bellevue Shorelines and Critical Areas Updates

Notice is hereby given that Statements of Qualifications will be accepted by the City of Bellevue Department of Planning and Community Development for professional consulting services for the Shoreline Master Program and Critical Areas updates. Qualifications may be filed with the Purchasing Division, 11511 Main Street, Fifth Floor, Bellevue, Washington 98004 until:

Date: Friday, August 24, 2001
Time: 4:00 P.M.

Qualifications received later than 4:00 P.M., August 24, 2001, will not be considered.

The City of Bellevue is concurrently updating its Shoreline Master Program and its Critical Areas policies and regulations in accordance with state mandates. The target for completing both projects is December 2002. Bellevue's shorelines and stream systems provide habitat for a number of salmonid species, including those listed under the Endangered Species Act. The update process will involve extensive community involvement, including a citizens advisory committee. Necessary skills of a shoreline/critical areas firm/team include the ability to inventory and evaluate habitat conditions and ecosystem processes, and recommend strategies for compliance with the requirements of the Shoreline Management Act and the Growth Management Act - Best Available Science. The project will require the ability to communicate technical scientific information in a manner suitable for the general public and to work collaboratively with several City departments and other groups of consultants.

Questions regarding the RFQ should be directed to Kevin McDonald, AICP at 425-452-4558, kmcdonald@ci.bellevue.wa.us.

The City of Bellevue reserves the right to reject any and all submittals and to waive irregularities and informalities in the evaluation process. This RFQ does not obligate the City to pay any costs incurred by respondents in the preparation and submission of qualifications.

The successful vendor must comply with the City of Bellevue equal opportunity requirements. The City of Bellevue is committed to a program of equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, creed, sex, age, nationality or disability.

Dated this 10th day of August, 2001.
