Resolution No. 479
A RESOLUTION of the City of Woodland declaring the City Council's consent to the City's annexation to the Cowlitz County Mosquito Control District, provided such annexation is approved by the voters of the City in accordance with the procedures set forth in RCW 17.28.330-350.
WHEREAS, the City of Woodland did not elect to be considered for inclusion in the Cowlitz County Mosquito Control District when the District was first formed in 1991, and
WHEREAS, due to the potential introduction of the West Nile Virus into Southwest Washington it has become particularly important that all reasonable efforts be made to exterminate mosquitoes in all of Cowlitz County, including within the City of Woodland, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Woodland finds that the best interest of the City would be served if the City of Woodland was annexed into the Cowlitz County Mosquito Control District.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that pursuant to RCW 17.28.320, the City of Woodland City Council hereby declares its consent to the annexation of the City of Woodland into the Cowlitz County Mosquito Control District, provided such annexation is approved by the voters of the City in accordance with the procedures set forth in RCW 17.28.330-350.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be transmitted to the Cowlitz County Mosquito Control District for inclusion with any petition that might be circulated in conjunction with the petition process set forth in RCW 1728.330
