RESOLUTION NO. 651
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKE FOREST PARK, WASHINGTON EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO INITIATIVE 747
WHEREAS, there are sufficient signatures obtained to place Initiative 747 before the voters of the State of Washington; and,
WHEREAS, Initiative 747 proposes to limit property tax increases; and,
WHEREAS, if Initiative 747 passes on November 6, 2001, the measure would require state and local governments to limit property tax levy increases to 1 percent per year, unless an increase greater than this limit is approved by the voters at an election; and,
WHEREAS, the passage of Initiative 747 would limit property tax increases unless submitted to a vote on December 6, 2001 and beyond.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lake Forest Park, Washington, having held a public hearing on October 11, 2001, that was continued to allow additional public comments on October 18, 2001, opposes Initiative 747.
PASSED BY A MAJORITY VOTE of the members of the City of Lake Forest Park City Council this 18th day of October, 2001, and signed into authentication this 22nd day of October, 2001.
