AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF KELSO RELATING TO ANNEXATION AND DECLARING KELSO'S INTENT TO JOIN COWLITZ COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT NO. 2, PURSUANT TO RCW 52.04.170-200.

Whereas, the City Council has on previous occasions declared an interest in consolidating Fire protection services with Cowlitz County Fire Protection District No. 2, and,

WHEREAS, the State Legislative passage of Senate Bill 3625 which become law on July 28, 1985 now enables the City of Kelso to pursue such an annexation.

NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Kelso do ordain as follows:

SECTION 1: Declaration of Intent. The City Council of the City of Kelso hereby declares its intent to join Fire Protection District No. 2 and makes such declaration in accordance with the procedures set forth in RCW 52.04.170 as amended.

SECTION 2: Finding of Public Benefit. The Kelso City Council hereby finds and declares that the public interest will be served if the annexation is approved and implemented.

SECTION 3: Transmittal to Fire Protection District. Upon adoption of this Ordinance the Clerk-treasurer is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Ordinance to the Fire Commissioners of Fire Protection District No. 2 for their consideration.

Adopted by the City Council and SIGNED by the Mayor this 6th day of August, 1985.
