Chapter 10.16 STOP SIGNS

A one-way stop sign shall be placed on the Cain Lake Road at the point of the intersection of Lake Whatcom Boulevard, traffic to stop on Cain Lake Road. (Prior code § 6.08.010).

10.16.010 Jackson and Blaine Roads at Grandview Road.

Four-way stop signs shall be placed at the intersection of Jackson and Grandview Roads and the intersection of Grandview and Blaine Roads. (Prior code § 6.08.020).

10.16.015 Stop signs designated by Resolution E-67-7.

Stop signs are designated such that: Lake Terrell Road shall stop at Mountain View Road; Mountain View Road, proceeding east, shall stop at Lake Terrell Road; South Church Road shall stop for Douglas Road; Douglas Road shall stop for Imhoff Road; Crystalline Road shall stop for Church Road; Harborview Road shall stop for Drayton Harbor Road; Hilltop Road shall stop for Church Road; Blaine Road shall stop for Grandview Road. Bay Road, proceeding east, shall stop for Blaine Road. Blaine Road, proceeding north, shall stop for Bay Road. Blaine Road, proceeding south, shall stop for Bay Road, as shown in the diagram in the county engineer’s office. (Prior code § 6.08.030).

10.16.020 Emerald Lake area.

There shall be placed:

A. Stop signs on all roads leading into Emerald Lake Way;

B. A stop sign on Sapphire Trail Road entering Agate Road. (Prior code § 6.08.040).

10.16.025 Blaine Road at Brown Road.

Stop signs shall be placed on the four corners of the Blaine Road at the intersection of the Brown Road in Sections 7 and 8, Township 39 North, Range 1 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.050).

10.16.030 McKenzie Way and Delta Way Roads.

Stop signs shall be placed:

A. On McKenzie Way Road intersecting with Tyee Drive;

B. On the Delta Way Road intersecting Roosevelt Way. (Prior code § 6.08.060).

10.16.035 Roy Road at West Lake Samish Drive.

A stop sign shall be placed at the intersection of the Roy Road and the West Lake Samish Drive, Section 27, Township 37 North, Range 3 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.070).

10.16.040 Thornton and Church Roads.

Four-way stop signs shall be placed at the intersection of Thornton and Church Roads. (Prior code § 6.08.080).

10.16.045 Bartlett Road at Old Guide Road.

A stop sign shall be placed on the Bartlett Road at the west end where the Bartlett Road intersects with the Old Guide Road. (Prior code § 6.08.090).

10.16.050 Bartlett Road and Shady Lane.

There shall be placed:

A. A stop sign on W. Bartlett Road at the intersection of the Old Guide Road.

B. A stop sign on Shady Lane at intersection of Rural Avenue. (Prior code § 6.08.100).

10.16.055 Rural Avenue at Curtis Road.

A stop sign shall be placed on Rural Avenue at the intersection of the Curtis Road in Section 4, Township 38 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.110).

10.16.060 Lummi Shore Road at Cagey Road.

A stop sign shall be placed at the intersection of the Lummi Shore and Cagey Roads in Section 24, Township 38 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.120).

10.16.065 Unick and Terrell Roads.

The intersection of the Unick and Terrell Roads be made a four-way stop by the placing of a stop sign at the following: corner of Unick and Lake Terrell Roads (south of Unick and west of Lake Terrell) in Section 33, Township 39 north, Range 1 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.130).

10.16.070 Searle Road at Marine Drive.

The intersection of the Searle Road and Marine Drive shall be made a two-way stop by the placing of stop signs on the Searle Road north and south of Marine Drive in Section 8, Township 38 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.140).

10.16.075 Jensen Road at Y Road.

Stop signs shall be set on the Jensen Road at the intersection of the Y Road, located on the Jensen Road, south side, Section 19, Township 38 North, Range 4 East at the intersection of the Y Road. (Prior code § 6.08.150).

10.16.080 Point Roberts area.

Stop signs shall be placed:

A. On Ronald Drive, plat of Leeside, Section 35, Township 41 North, Range 3 West W.M., intersecting Monte Drive;

B. On Cedar Park Drive, plat of Cedar Park, Section 2, Township 40 North, Range 3 West, intersecting Beach Road;

C. On Burns Way, Burns Addition to Delta View, Section 35, Township 41 North, Range 3 West, intersecting Johnson Road. (Prior code § 6.08.160).

10.16.085 Bancroft and Fort Bellingham Roads.

A. On Bancroft Road, traffic on Bancroft Road shall stop for Island View Drive.

B. On Fort Bellingham Road, traffic going north on Fort Bellingham Road shall stop for Island View Drive. (Prior code § 6.08.170).

10.16.090 Bayon and Hoff Roads.

Stop signs shall be placed:

A. On Bayon Road at the intersection with Hoff Road, Sections 16 and 17, Township 38 North, Range 2 East, W.M.;

B. On Hoff Road (going south) at the intersection with Country Lane, Section 8, Township 38 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.180).

10.16.095 Lonseth and Henry Roads at Powder Plant Road.

A. Two stop signs to be placed on the Lonseth Road. Traffic on the Lonseth Road shall stop for the Powder Plant Road.

B. Two stop signs to be placed on the Henry Road. Traffic on the Henry Road shall stop for the Powder Plant Road. (Prior code § 6.08.190).

10.16.100 Marine Drive at Hoff Road.

A stop sign shall be set on Marine Drive at the intersection of the Hoff Road and Marine Drive, located in Section 17, Township 38 North, Range 2 East. (Prior code § 6.08.200).

10.16.105 Stop signs designated by Resolution E-70-2.

A. A stop sign shall be installed northbound on Nelson Road at Potter Road, Section 17, Township 38 North, Range 5 East, W.M.

B. Traffic coming south off Highway 9 on short, unnamed road running north and south on centerline of Section 8, shall stop for Potter Road, located in Section 8, Township 38 North, Range 5 East.

C. Traffic on the Northeast fork of Cain Lake Road shall stop for traffic on the main branch of the Cain Lake Road (which intersects Lake Whatcom Boulevard), located in Section 29, Township 37 North, Range 4 West. (Prior code § 6.08.210).

10.16.110 Tarte Road at Kickerville Road.

A stop sign shall be set on the Tarte Road. Traffic on the Tarte Road shall stop for traffic on the Kickerville Road, located in Section 33, Township 40 North, Range 1 East. (Prior code § 6.08.220).

10.16.115 Columbus Avenue at Austin Street.

A stop sign shall be set on Columbus Avenue (platted as 6th Street) in the plat of West Geneva, Section 34, Township 38 North, Range 3 East, and shall be placed on the west side of Austin Street. (Prior code § 6.08.230).

10.16.120 Imhoff Road at Douglas Road.

A stop sign shall be placed on the Imhoff Road, intersecting the Douglas Road and located in Section 30, Township 39 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.240).

10.16.125 Douglas Road at Imhoff Road.

A stop sign shall be placed on the Douglas Road at the intersection of the Imhoff Road, located in Section 30, Township 39 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.250).

10.16.130 Nulle Road at West Lake Samish Drive.

A stop sign shall be placed on the Nulle Road at the intersection of the West Lake Samish Drive, located in Section 36, Township 37 North, Range 3 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.260).

10.16.135 Stop signs designated by Resolution E-70-25.

A stop sign shall be placed on the Flynn Road at the intersection of the Birch Bay-Lynden Road, located in Section 25, Township 40 North, Range 2 East, W.M., and on the Loomis Trail Road at the intersection of the Valley View Road, located in Section 22, Township 40 North, Range 1 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.270).

10.16.140 East Lake Samish Drive at North Lake Samish Drive.

A stop sign shall be placed at the intersection of East Lake Samish Drive and North Lake Samish Drive, on the southeast corner of the curved road extending from East Lake Samish Drive and North Lake Samish Drive and being in Section 23, Township 37 North, Range 3 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.280).

10.16.145 Woolridge Avenue at Jackson Road and Alberson Road.

Two stop signs shall be placed on Woolridge Avenue, one at the corner of Jackson Road on the south and one at the corner of Alberson Road on the north. Both are located in Section 31, Township 40 North, Range 1 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.290).

10.16.150 Hoff Road and Country Lane.

One stop sign shall be placed on Hoff Road so that traffic going north on Hoff Road shall stop for Country Lane. (Prior code 6.08.300).

10.16.155 Jones Lane at Country Lane.

Two stop signs shall be placed on Jones Lane so that traffic going both north and south on Jones Lane shall stop for traffic on Country Lane. Both signs are located in Sections 9 and 16, Township 38 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.310).

10.16.160 East Douglas Avenue.

One stop sign will be placed on East Douglas Avenue at the point where it intersects with Yew Street Road. The sign is located in the plat of Firewood Manor, located in Section 5, Township 37 North, Range 3 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.320).

10.16.165 Alder Road.

One stop sign shall be placed on the Alder Road at the point where it intersects the Limerick Road. The sign will be in Section 35, Township 41 North, Range 3 West, W.M. and lying between the plats of Whalen’s 1st to Maple Beach Supplement and Maple Beach Supplement. (Prior code § 6.08.330).

10.16.170 Certain roads in Point Roberts.

Stop signs shall be placed on Point Roberts roads so that all vehicles traveling on any and all roads which intersect the following named Point Roberts roads shall stop before entering these roads: A. Boundary Bay Road; B. Tyee Road. (Prior code § 6.08.340).

10.16.180 Bancroft Road.

One stop sign shall be placed on Bancroft Road (new road north of Marine Drive, in line with Bancroft Road going south from Marine Drive) intersecting Marine Drive in Section 16, Township 38 North, Range 2 East. (Prior code § 6.08.360).

10.16.185 West Main Street Road.

The following stop signs shall be placed on W. Main Street Road:

A. One stop sign shall be placed on West Main Street Road so that all vehicles traveling west shall stop at the intersection to the Berthusen Road.

B. One stop sign shall be placed on West Main Street Road so that all vehicles traveling east, having just turned east from Berthusen Road, shall stop for traffic coming from the north on northern arm of West Main Street Road. (Prior code §§ 6.08.370, 6.08.380).

10.16.190 Berthusen Road.

One stop sign shall be placed on Berthusen Road so that all vehicles traveling north on Berthusen Road shall stop at the second and most northern intersection of the West Main Street Road. (Prior code § 10.16.390).

10.16.195 Ulrick Road.

One stop sign shall be placed on the Ulrick Road at the intersection of the Ferndale Road in Section 31, Township 39 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 10.16.400).

10.16.200 Olson and Thornton Roads.

A four-way stop sign configuration shall be placed at the crossing of Olson and Thornton Roads, located in Sections 13, 14, 23 and 24, Township 39 North, Range 1 East. (Prior code § 10.16.410).

10.16.205 Grandview and Kickerville Roads.

A four-way stop sign configuration shall be placed at the intersection of the Grandview and Kickerville Roads, located in Sections 4, 5, 8 and 9, Township 39 North, Range 1 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.420).

10.16.210 Acme Dump Site.

One stop sign shall be placed on the road leading out of the Acme Dump Site at the intersection of the Mosquito Lake Road, so that all cars coming out of the Acme Dump Site shall stop before entering the Mosquito Lake Road, located in Section 4, Township 37 North, Range 5 East. (Prior code § 6.08.430).

10.16.215 Ritter Road.

One stop sign shall be placed on the Ritter Road such that traffic shall stop for Northwest Avenue, located in Section 3, Township 39 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.440).

10.16.220 Creasey Road.

Two stop signs shall be placed on the Creasey Road at the intersection of the Valley View Road, located in Sections 26 and 27, Township 40 North, Range 1 East, W.M. so that traffic on the Creasey Road shall stop for Valley View Road traffic. (Prior code 6.08.450).

10.16.225 Yacht Club Road.

Two stop signs shall be placed on the Yacht Club Road so that all vehicle traffic shall stop before crossing the Burlington Northern Railroad tracks, located in SE 1/4, SE 1/4 Section 24, Township 37 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.460).

10.16.230 Cove Road.

Two stop signs shall be placed on the Cove Road so that all vehicle traffic shall stop before crossing the Burlington Northern Railroad Tracks, located in SW 1/4, NE 1/4 Section 36, Township 37 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.470).

10.16.235 Lutherwood Road.

One stop sign shall be placed on Lutherwood Road at the point at which it intersects with Roy Road so that traffic on Lutherwood Road will stop for Roy Road traffic. (Prior code § 6.08.480).

10.16.240 Washington Drive and Kennedy Road.

One stop sign shall be placed on Washington Drive and Kennedy Roads so that traffic on these roads shall stop for traffic on Johnson Road. These roads are located at Point Roberts. (Prior code § 6.08.490).

10.16.245 Moose Trail.

One stop sign shall be placed on Moose Trail so that traffic on Moose Trail shall stop for traffic on Benson Road. These roads are located in Point Roberts.(Prior code § 6.08.500).

10.16.250 Marine Drive and Gulf Road.

A four-way stop sign configuration shall be placed at the corner of Marine Drive and Gulf Road, Point Roberts. (Prior code § 6.08.510).

10.16.255 Custer School Road and Creasey Road.

The following stop signs shall be placed:

A. Two stop signs on southwest and northeast corners of the Creasey Road and Custer School Road intersection with all traffic stopping for Custer School Road traffic;

B. One stop sign on southeast corner of Creasey Road and Custer School Road intersection with eastbound Creasey Road traffic stopping for merging traffic from southwest-bound Creasey Road traffic;

C. One stop sign on Custer School Road, southbound traffic to stop for merging traffic from Creasey Road. All signs are located in Sections 25 and 26, Township 40 North, Range 1 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.520).

10.16.260 Delta Line Road.

One stop sign shall be placed on the Delta Line Road at the intersection with Zell Road, located in Section 31, Township 40 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.530).

10.16.265 Coronado and Freemont Avenues.

A four-way stop sign configuration shall be placed at the intersection of Coronado Avenue and Freemont Avenue, located in Section 35, Township 38 North, Range 3 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.540).

10.16.270 Bass Road.

One stop sign shall be placed on Bass Road at the intersection of Yew Street Road, located in Section 4, Township 37 North, Range 3 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.550).

10.16.275 Smith Road and Hannegan Road.

A four-way stop sign configuration shall be placed at the intersection of the Smith Road and Hannegan Road. Installed lights shall also indicate a four-way stop. (Prior code § 6.08.560).

10.16.280 Birch Bay-Lynden Road and Portal Way.

Two stop signs shall be placed on Portal Way at its intersection with the Birch Bay-Lynden Road making it a four-way stop. All traffic will stop at this intersection. (Prior code § 6.08.570).

10.16.285 Wynn Road.

Two stop signs shall be placed on Wynn Road where it intersects the railroad track, located in Sections 15 and 16, Township 38 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.580).

10.16.290 Henry Road.

Two stop signs shall be placed on the Henry Road at the point where it intersects the railroad crossing located in Sections 17 and 20, Township 39 North, Range 1 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.590).

10.16.295 Van Buren Road.

Two stop signs shall be placed on the Van Buren Road at the point where it intersects the railroad crossing, located in Sections 7 and 8, Township 40 North, Range 4 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.600).

10.16.300 Goshen Road.

Two stop signs shall be place on the Goshen Road at the point where it intersects the railroad crossing, located in Section 19, Township 39 North, Range 4 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.610).

10.16.305 Locust Road.

One stop sign shall be placed on Locust Road at the intersection of McAlpine Road, located in Section 23, Township 38 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.620).

10.16.310 California Trail.

One stop sign shall be placed on California Trail in plat of Sunday Harbor at its intersection with the Blaine Road, located in Section 18, Township 40 North, Range 1 East, W.M. (Prior code 6.08.630).

10.16.315 Sumas Road.

One stop sign shall be placed on Sumas Road at its intersection with Rock Road, located in Section 2, Township 40 North, Range 4 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.640).

10.16.320 Halverstick Road.

Two stop signs shall be placed on the Halverstick Road at the point where it intersects the railroad crossing, located in Section 33, Township 41 North, Range 4 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.650).

10.16.325 Mission Road.

Two stop signs shall be placed on the Mission Road at the point where it intersects the railroad crossing, located in Section 25, Township 39 North, Range 3 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.660).

10.16.330 Johnson Road.

One stop sign shall be placed on the Johnson Road at the intersection with Mill Road, located in Point Roberts, Section 35, Township 41 North, Range 3 West, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.670).

10.16.335 Deer Creek Drive.

One stop sign shall be placed on Deer Creek Drive at the intersection with West Axton Road, located in NE 1/4, NE 1/4, Section 28, Township 39 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.680).

10.16.340 Eberly Road.

One stop sign shall be placed on Eberly Road at its intersection with the Sand Road, located in Section 32, Township 39 North, Range 4 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.690).

10.16.345 Waldron Drive.

One stop sign shall be placed on Waldron Drive at the intersection with Lake Terrell Road, located in Section 3, Township 38 North, Range 1 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.700).

10.16.350 Trout Lake Drive.

One stop sign shall be placed on Trout Lake Drive at the intersection with the Northwest Road, located in Section 11, Township 38 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.710).

10.16.355 Enterprise Road.

One stop sign shall be placed on Enterprise Road at the intersection with the Harksell Road, located in Section 5, Township 39 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.720).

10.16.360 Derby Street.

One stop sign shall be placed on Derby Street at the intersection with Roosevelt Way, located in Section 35, Township 41 North, Range 3 West, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.730).

10.16.365 Murray Road.

One stop sign shall be placed on Murray Road at the intersection with the Laurel Road, located in Section 20, Township 39 North, Range 3 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.740).

10.16.370 Conifer Drive.

One stop sign shall be placed on Conifer Drive at its intersection with Enterprise Road, located in Section 5, Township 39 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.750).

10.16.375 Grandview Road and Vista Drive.

A four-way stop configuration shall be installed at the intersection of Grandview Road and Vista Drive, located in Section 12, Township 39 North, Range l East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.760).

10.16.380 Cougar Street.

A stop sign to be placed on Cougar Street at the intersection with E. Bakerview Road, located in Section 8, Township 38 North, Range 3 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.770).

10.16.385 Approaches from Paradise Lakes Country Club into the Kendall Road.

Stop signs to be placed on all approaches from Paradise Lakes Country Club into the Kendall Road, located in Sections 22 and 27, Township 40 North, Range 5 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.780).

10.16.390 Pyramid Lane.

A stop sign to be placed on Pyramid Lane at the intersection with King But Road, located in Section 13, Township 39 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.790).

10.16.395 Roeder Lane and unnamed road (Sutton Lane).

One stop sign shall be placed on Roeder Lane at the intersection with Mecklem Road, and one stop sign to be placed on unnamed road (Sutton Lane) at the intersection with Mecklem Road. Both roads are located in plat of Roederland in Section 2, Township 39 North, Range 3 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.800).

10.16.400 Northwest Road.

One stop sign shall be placed on Northwest Road, going north, at the intersection with Axton Road, making the intersection a four-way stop, located in Section 27, Township 39 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.810).

10.16.405 Kamm Road.

A stop sign shall be placed on Kamm Road at its intersection with Line Road, located in Section 15, Township 40 North, Range 3 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.820).

10.16.410 Paradise Drive.

A stop sign shall be placed on Paradise Drive at its intersection with Paradise Road in District 2, located in the plat of Paradise Park in Section 22, Township 39 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.830).

10.16.415 Middle Fork Road.

A stop sign shall be placed on Middle Fork Road at its intersection with the Mosquito Lake Road (2 exits), located in Sections 11 and 12, Township 38 North, Range 5 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.840).

10.16.420 Plat of Dutch Haven, Division 3.

Stop signs shall be placed whenever necessary in the plat of Dutch Haven, Division 3, located in Section 12, Township 39 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.850).

10.16.425 Tall Cedars Lane.

A stop sign shall be placed on Tall Cedars Lane in the plat of Tall Cedars Estates at its intersection with the Dahlberg Road, located in Section 4, Township 39 North, Range 2 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.860).

10.16.430 Line Road.

A stop sign shall be placed on Line Road on the southbound lane as it intersects with the Kamm Road, located in Section 15, Township 40 North, Range 3 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.870).

10.16.435 Ulrick Road.

A stop sign shall be placed on Ulrick Road at its intersection with the South Church Road, located in Section 30, Township 39 North, Range 2 East, District 3. (Prior code § 6.08.880).

10.16.440 Vista La Monte plat.

Stop signs shall be placed at the intersections of La Bello Drive and Beard Road and La Monte Drive and Beard Road in the plat of Vista La Monte, Vista La Monte Division 1 and Vista La Monte Division 2, located in Section 8, Township 39 North, Range 3 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.890).

10.16.445 Bellinger Road.

A stop sign shall be placed on Bellinger Road at its intersection with the Hannegan Road, located in Section 28, Township 39 North, Range 3 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.900).

10.16.450 Charel Drive.

Two stop signs shall be placed on Charel Drive at its two entrances into Semiahmoo Drive, located in Section 15, Township 40 North, Range 1 West, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.910).

10.16.455 Kelly Road.

A. Two stop signs shall be placed on the Kelly Road, one-quarter mile east of the Noon Road in Section 35, Township 39 North, Range 3 East, W.M.

B. Two stop signs shall be placed on the Van Wyck Road, one-half mile west of the Noon Road in Section 3, Township 38 North, Range 3 East, W.M.

C. All vehicle traffic shall stop before crossing the Milwaukee Road railroad tracks.(Prior code § 6.08.920).

10.16.460 Cliff Road.

Two stop signs shall be placed on Cliff Road at its two entrances into Province Road, located in Sections 34 and 25, Township 41 North, Range 3 West, W.M., Point Roberts. (Prior code § 6.08.930).

10.16.465 Sandy Point Heights.

One stop sign shall be placed at each of the following intersections in the plat of Sandy Point Heights:

A. On Galiano Drive at the intersection with Waldron Drive;

B. On Galiano Drive at the intersection with Guemes Way;

C. On Guemes Way at the intersection with Red River Road;

D. On Prevost Way at the intersection with Decatur Drive;

E. On Moresby Way at the intersection with Decatur Drive;

F. On Cyprus Way at the intersection with Decatur Drive;

G. On Cyprus Way at the intersection with Moresby Way;

H. On Moresby Way at the intersection with Sinclair Drive;

I. On Pender Drive at the intersection with Orcas Way;

J. On Orcas Way at the intersection with Decatur Drive. (Prior code § 6.08.940).

10.16.470 Wiser Lane.

One stop sign shall be placed on Wiser Lane at its intersection with the East Wiser Lake Road, located in Section 31, Township 40 North, Range 3 East, W.M. (Prior code § 6.08.950).
