Who is required to complete basic
training, and when? Adult family homes
(1) Adult family home providers (including entity
representatives as defined under chapter 388-76 WAC) must
complete basic training and demonstrate competency before
operating an adult family home.
(2) Adult family home resident managers must complete
basic training and demonstrate competency before providing
services in an adult family home.
(3) Caregivers in adult family homes must complete basic
training within one hundred twenty days of when they begin
providing hands-on personal care or within one hundred twenty
days of September 1, 2002, whichever is later. Until
competency in the basic training has been demonstrated,
caregivers may not provide hands-on personal care without
indirect supervision.
Boarding homes
(4) Boarding home administrators (or their designees),
except administrators with a current nursing home
administrator license, must complete basic training and
demonstrate competency within one hundred twenty days of
employment or within one hundred twenty days of September 1,
2002, whichever is later.
(5) Caregivers must complete basic training within one
hundred twenty days of when they begin providing hands-on
personal care or within one hundred twenty days of September
1, 2002, whichever is later. Until competency in the basic
training has been demonstrated, caregivers may not provide
hands-on personal care without direct supervision.
