Lighting, emergency lighting, and
electrical outlets. The licensee must ensure that lighting,
emergency lighting, and electrical outlets are adequate and
safe including:
(1) Light fixtures are protected against light bulb
breakage by using appropriately fitted shields, bulbs, or
tubes manufactured with shatter resistant materials in all
areas occupied by residents, including common areas, and in
medication and food preparation areas.
(2) Each room or area occupied by children under age five
or residents with unsafe behaviors must have tamper resistant
electrical outlets.
(3) Each electrical outlet within six feet of a sink or
wet area must be of the ground fault interrupter type or be
controlled by a ground fault circuit interrupter.
(4) Provide emergency lighting on each floor.
(5) Provide operable exterior lighting with solar or
battery backup at the exit and entry doors.
