Long-term care services. The purpose of
this section is to guide the management and care of patients
receiving long-term care services. Hospitals are not required
to provide these services in order to be licensed.
If providing long-term care services, hospitals must:
(1) Define the qualifications and oversight of staff
delivering long-term care services;
(2) Develop and implement policies and procedures
specific to the care and needs of patients receiving the
long-term services;
(3) Use hospital policies and procedures which define
standards of practice; and
(4) Provide an activities program designed to encourage
each patient to maintain or attain normal activity and an
optimal level of independence.
