Criminal history, disclosure, and
background inquiries -- Hospital responsibility. This section
outlines the requirements for hospitals to conduct criminal
history background inquiries for all medical staff, employees
or prospective employees who have or may have unsupervised
access to children, vulnerable adults, and developmentally
disabled adults.
Hospitals must:
(1) Require a disclosure statement according to RCW 43.43.834 for each prospective employee, volunteer,
contractor, student, and any other person associated with the
licensed hospital with unsupervised access to:
(a) Children under sixteen years of age;
(b) Vulnerable adults as defined under RCW 43.43.830; and
(c) Developmentally disabled individuals;
(2) Require a Washington state patrol background inquiry
according to RCW 43.43.834 for each prospective employee,
volunteer, contractor, student, and any other person applying
for association with the licensed hospital before allowing
unsupervised access to:
(a) Children under sixteen years of age;
(b) Vulnerable adults as defined under RCW 43.43.830; and
(c) Developmentally disabled individuals.
