WAC 246-243-080
Radiation survey instruments. (1) The
licensee shall maintain sufficient calibrated and operable
radiation survey instruments at each location where radioactive
material is present to make physical radiation surveys as
required by this part and chapter 246-221 WAC. Instrumentation
required by this section shall be capable of measuring a range
from 0.02 millisieverts (2 millirems) per hour through 0.01
sievert (1 rem) per hour.
(2) Each radiation survey instrument shall be calibrated:
(a) At intervals not to exceed six months and after each
instrument servicing except for battery changes;
(b) Such that accuracy within ± 20 percent of the
calibration source can be demonstrated at each point checked; and
(c) For linear scale instruments, at two points located
approximately one-third and two-thirds of full scale on each
scale; for logarithmic scale instruments, at mid-range of each
decade; and for digital instruments at three points between 0.02
and 10 millisieverts (2 and 1000 millirems) per hour.
(3) Records shall be maintained of these calibrations for
three years after the calibration date for inspection by the
department.
