WAC 173-340-100
Purpose. This chapter is promulgated
under the Model Toxics Control Act. It establishes
administrative processes and standards to identify,
investigate, and clean up facilities where hazardous
substances have come to be located. It defines the role of
the department and encourages public involvement in decision
making at these facilities.
The goal of this chapter is to implement chapter 70.105D RCW. This chapter provides a workable process to accomplish
effective and expeditious cleanups in a manner that protects
human health and the environment. This chapter is primarily
intended to address releases of hazardous substances caused by
past activities although its provisions may be applied to
potential and ongoing releases of hazardous substances from
current activities.
