Student conduct committee. (1) The
college's student conduct committee will hear and make
recommendations on all disciplinary cases referred to it by
the vice-president for student services or designee or appealed to it by students who have been
disciplined by the vice-president for student services or designee.
(2) The student conduct committee will be comprised of
the following members:
(a) A chair designated by the president of the college
for a period of one year. The chair will be a nonvoting
member, except in the case of a tie vote by committee members,
and will normally be a faculty member. It shall be his/her
responsibility to ensure that all procedures prescribed in
this chapter are followed. The chair will also take
appropriate action to ensure that the hearing is conducted in
a safe and orderly manner, advise the committee members of the
precedents and guidelines concerning the case, and inform the
student in writing of the action taken/recommended by the
committee following the hearing.
(b) Three faculty members appointed by the president. Three alternates shall also be appointed by the president in
the event an appointee(s) is unable to complete his/her term
or unable to serve on a particular case.
(c) Three full-time (at least ten credits) student
representatives shall be recommended by the associated
students' executive council to the president of the college. Three alternates will also be appointed to serve in the event
that a member(s) is unable to complete his/her term or is
unable to serve on a particular case.
(d) A quorum shall consist of at least two of the above
named faculty, and two of the above named students and the
chair.
(e) Committee members will be appointed to serve for one
year but are eligible to serve as many as three consecutive
terms.
