704.1 Scope. The requirements of this section shall be
limited to work areas in which Level 2 alterations are being
performed, and where specified they shall apply throughout the
floor on which the work areas are located or otherwise beyond
the work area.
EXCEPTION:
For Level 2 alteration projects in which the fire protection requirements constitute an excessive burden, the fire
protection requirements may be modified or waived by the fire code official.
704.2 Automatic sprinkler systems. Automatic sprinkler
systems shall be provided in accordance with the requirements
of Sections 704.2.1 through 704.2.5. Installation
requirements shall be in accordance with the International
Fire Code and NFPA 13 or NFPA 13R.
