5.02.010 Appointment.

The mayor, with the approval of the council, may appoint any or all of the Spokane County district court judges as municipal judge, any such appointment to be effective so long as the individual holds the office of district court judge or until the appointment be revoked in like manner.*

* In anticipation of the passage of an initiative that would have abolished the municipal court, SMC 5.02.010 was amended by emergency Ordinance No. C32325, passed December 21, 1998, and effective immediately, to change the term for which municipal judges are to be appointed. By its terms the amendment lapsed on December 21, 1999, restoring the section to its original language.

5.02.020 Salaries and Expenses.

The salary for a municipal judge shall be that for a district court judge as prescribed by statute. The City pays to the County of Spokane such proportion of the salary and expenses of the municipal judges as may from time to time be agreed to in writing between the City and County.
