Miscellaneous Franchises*

* There have been a number of ordinances in the nature of franchises, such as Ords. C8841, passed November 25, 1946, Ord. C14803, passed February 25, 1957, and Ord. C24609, passed November 6, 1978, which designated the Spokane humane society as keeper of the city pound, empowered to impound, keep and dispose of animals running at large. The last franchise, to run from January 1979 to November 1983, was terminated prior to expiration. Animal control is currently provided by contract. Accordingly, no animal control franchises are contained in SMC chapter 14.11.
