2 Established as Chehalis County by territorial legislature in 1854. In 1907, the state legislature approved division of the county into two counties, Chehalis County and Grays Harbor County. The state supreme court ruled against the act, and in 1915 the legislature changed the name of the whole to Grays Harbor County. Information from private author, see foot three.
