POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: MAINTENANCE CUSTODIAN

SUPERVISOR: DIRECTOR OF FACILITIES MAINTENANCE

DEPARTMENT: MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT

APPOINTMENT: This is a regular, full time non-exempt position.

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIP:

The Maintenance Custodian reports to the Assistant Maintenance Supervisor and maintains a working relationship with other departments and their personnel. The Maintenance Custodian works under the guidance of State and Federal regulation, and County policies and procedures.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Custodian Manager is responsible for keeping the Courthouse and its offices clean , along with maintaining the Courthouse grounds.

Responsible for keeping the County Courthouse and its offices clean. 60%

    • Collects and disposed of trash from all offices in the building.
    • Cleans building exterior and windows, restrooms, hallways, and offices.
    • Operates buffer, wax stripper, floor scrubber, mops, brooms, carpet shampooer, and vacuum cleaner.
    • Distributes and stores supplies in work areas.
    • Itemizes supplies and submits list of needed supplies to supervisor.

Responsible for maintenance of County Courthouse grounds. 20%

    • Operates lawnmower, edger, weed-eater, snow blower, snow-plow, lawn aerator, and Hedge trimmer.
    • Cultivates trees, shrubs, grass, and herbaceous plants.
    • Removes snow and ice for walkways during winter.
    • Cleans sidewalks.
    • Maintains irrigation system for the Jail.

Responsible for performing minor semi-skilled interior building maintenance, repairs and installations; and preparing courthouse for public access. 18%

    • Repairs doors, windows, lights, switches, desks, chairs, walls, sinks, ect.
    • Installs bulletin boards, shelves, vertical files, blinds, paper towel dispensers, ect.
    • Prepares meeting rooms for special events in Courthouse and Morris Sorensen Building.
    • Arrange furniture and equipment in offices as requested.
    • Paints interior walls as instructed.
    • Prepares building for public access during working hours.
    • Change light bulbs and fluorescent tubes as needed.

Maintain Building security at the County Courthouse and Sorensen Building. 2%

    • Secure doors and windows, turn off equipment, and lights in County Courthouse and Morris Sorensen Building at night and weekends.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Valid Washington State Driver’s License.
    • Experience using power tools, cleaning equipment, and cleaning supplies.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • None.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • None.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The working environment will include both indoor and outdoor work, and the inidvidual will be required to operate power tools, work with chemicals, and move or lift 25-100 pounds on a daily basis. Regular attendance is required for this position.
