JOB SUMMARY

Plans, develops and manages Volunteer and/or Internship programs, including the development of a mission, goals, policy and procedures, and marketing to increase public awareness. Provides oversight of program operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Defines and develops volunteer or internship positions.

· Recruits, screens, trains and places volunteers, sets up work schedules and monitors workload.

· Monitors and reviews volunteer or intern performance and may oversee internal communication and recognition programs.

· May coach and counsel volunteers or interns and staff on all relevant personnel issues and concerns.

· May prepare newsletters as well as reports, presentations and policy relating to program development.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Works under general supervision.

Exercises supervision over volunteers, as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.

Three or more years of professional related experience in volunteer or project management.

Or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

Considerable knowledge of budget development and management.

Considerable skills and knowledge of recruitment, selection and supervision techniques.

Skill in public speaking and customer service.

Ability to relate and work with a broad and varied population; Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures to ambiguous situations; Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
