JOB SUMMARY
Manages the City's forest and street trees programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Coordinates and implements the Forest Management Program.
· Manages the Street Tree Program.
· Reviews and develops policies, standards and procedures.
· Enforces codes affecting forests and street trees.
· Administers grants; prepares proposals; develops marketing, public education, and technical information materials.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Works under the moderate to general supervision of the Natural Resources Manager.
No formal supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.
Five or more years of progressively responsible related experience.
Or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Urban Forester certification preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of arborist practices and principles; knowledge of proper tree care practices.
Ability to manage a program and develop, interpret and communicate policies and procedures.
Ability to establish effective working relationships; ability to enforce standards and regulations with tact and diplomacy.
Knowledge of grant application process and ability to manage funds and programs.
Ability to develop, prepare and deliver effective and persuasive public presentations.
