JOB SUMMARY

Maintains the City's telemetry lines, fiber and related systems as well as applicable instrumentation used by the City's water, sewer, storm water and EERF departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Performs tests, repairs, calibration, documentation and programming of the City's audio tone and digital telemetry system; maintains the City's telemetry phone lines and fiber optic services.

· Performs tests, repairs, calibration and programming of instrumentation for Water, Wastewater, Storm, and the main telemetry control panels at the City's service center.

· Provides complete electrical maintenance for all City-owned water, wastewater, flush station and surface water facilities.

· Provides hardware and programming support for the City's SCADA and Data Management Systems.

· Maintains software documentation for programmable controllers and variable speed drives; maintains schematic diagrams and technical information on all remote telemetry units, motor control centers and telemetry systems.

· Conducts operational and electrical safety training for operations personnel.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Works under the general supervision of the Operations Manager

No formal supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Graduation from high school or a GED equivalent.

Five or more years of professional related experience in electrical systems, basic electronics and hydraulics.

Or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Washington General Journeyman Electrical license and Electronic Technician certification preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

Working knowledge in PLC Language, Wonderware Programming and various industrial control configuration programs; Basic knowledge of Visual Basic.

Skill in drafting electronic/electrical CAD drawings.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Good knowledge of basic electronics and electrical instrumentation, including pneumatics, hydraulics and analog and digital telemetry.
