JOB SUMMARY
Manages planning design and construction of multiple government buildings and projects of the largest size and complexity. Additionally, the incumbent provides space management for city owned facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Manages and coordinates programming and pre-design of all facility renovations projects.
· Manages the design, public bidding and construction of facility renovations.
· Manages consultants and contractors.
· Manages space planning and resources for City owned facilities.
· Completes short and long-range facility planning, including facility master plans and feasibility studies, communicating to top management the City's current and projected space requirements and making recommendations on present and future space utilization and facility needs.
· Investigates and resolves technical issues.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Works under the general supervision of Facilities Planning Manager.
Supervises Engineering Technician and other staff as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in business or public administration, project/construction management, architecture, engineering or related field.
Five or more year of professional related experience in managing facilities, facilities project improvements and space utilization planning.
Or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Architecture or Professional Engineering license preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
Considerable knowledge of project management principles, construction techniques and space planning.
Knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of public and business administration as applied in a large organization.
Skill in using a personal computer, engineering applications, and data management software in performing duties.
Ability to organize, analyze, interpret and evaluate problems and provide practical, cost effective solutions; ability to juggle multiple priorities; ability to communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, contractors and the general public, both orally and in writing.
