JOB SUMMARY
Provides recreational programs and services to a diverse population of the community, including youth, physically disabled persons and the elderly. Develops, implements, staffs, monitors and evaluates programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Coordinates and works with volunteers and citizens in providing recreational programs.
· Recruits, hires, trains and evaluates program staff and volunteers.
· Seeks and secures necessary funding for program(s).
· Orders and maintains equipment and supplies used in recreation activities.
· Markets program(s); researches and writes grants.
· Prepares newsletters and other documents and reports as necessary.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Works under general supervision.
Exercises supervision over contractors and temporary/seasonal staff, as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in recreation, human services or other related field(s).
Four or more years of progressively responsible related experience in recreation programming or a related area.
Or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Blood Born Pathogens certification may be required.

Knowledge of a diverse segment of the population.

Ability to work well under pressure; Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
