JOB SUMMARY
Oversees and manages recreational activities and/or facilities within the City and assures compliance with national, regional and local protocols and standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develops, implements and manages all phases of assigned recreational activities.
· Develops and administers program budget; tracks revenue and expenditures; recommends adjustments and sets revenue goals.
· Administers the marketing and public relations to promote recreation programs, including designing materials and making presentations to the public.
· Implements policies and procedures required for recruiting, hiring, training and supervising recreation program staff.
· Works closely with division managers, other divisions with the Parks and Community Services Department and contractors; participates on advisory committees and program teams.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Works under the general supervision of the Parks/Community Services Manager.
Exercises supervision over coordinators, support staff, and temporary/seasonal employees, as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS
College-level course work or graduation from an accredited two-year college or university.
Three or more years of responsible related experience in program and/or facility management, as well as supervisory experience.
Or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of national, regional and local protocols and procedures related to assigned programs; Working knowledge of databases, spreadsheet applications and word-processing.
Skill in conflict resolution and customer service.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
May require certification in CPR and first aid.
