JOB SUMMARY

Performs space-planning services for office reconfigurations and act as project manager for small tenant improvement projects. This may also involve project planning, funding analysis and inter / intradepartmental coordination. Manage the AutoCAD/ARCHIBUS space management system to provide information on personnel and space data for long and short range planning. Provide AutoCAD system support for all project managers at their request.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include any combination of the following tasks:

· Provide administration for the computer system that tracks population and inventory to provide current accurate information relative to space planning requirements (AutoCAD and ARCHIBUS).

· Define the scope of design projects. The incumbent communicates and collaborates with a variety of individuals and provide overall administrative management for project activities including (but not limited to): scheduling, managing project construction, coordinating with clients, contractors and in-house technical staff and ensuring project compliance with timelines and budget requirements.

· Prepare drawings, specifications, details and other documents required to implement projects.

· Create budgets and identify funding sources.

· Plan workstation redesigns and staff relocations.

· Coordinate work plans and schedules with other project managers, key staff and departments.

· Maintain a current library of all existing building drawings including electrical, HVAC, mechanical, structural and architectural.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Works under moderate to general supervision.

No formal supervisory responsibilities, but may act as lead worker, train new employees, and/or review the work of other staff.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

College-level coursework or graduation from an accredited two-year college or university with a degree in drafting, engineering sciences, project management or related field.

Two or more years of responsible related experience in drafting and engineering technician related work.

Or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Flagging certification may be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

Extensive knowledge of space planning, interior design and general construction management.

Ability to perform routine work completely, accurately and consistently; ability to accurately record data and develop reports; ability to research policies and procedures and to respond to inquiries for information.

Knowledge of software programs and databases used by the City for space planning activities.

Ability to listen and ascertain the needs of customers; ability to find and communicate accurate information concerning process, policies and procedures to customers; ability to respond to customers tactfully and courteously.
