JOB SUMMARY

Coordinates and supervises activities associated with the Electronic Home Detention program. Provides managerial support to the program by defining goals and objectives. Provides advice and guidance to staff members and formulates new procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assesses eligibility of participants; explains contractual agreement; performs daily monitoring of program participants; explains and enforces rules and regulations.

· Assists in the preparation of legal documents.

· Determines and enforces instances of violation by reviewing report and providing oral and written warnings.

· Explains and demonstrates the installation of monitoring equipment to subordinates and other interested parties; installs and troubleshoots monitoring equipment.

· Participates in court proceedings as program representative.

· Supervises program participants.

· Prepares various court letters and annual report.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Works under the general supervision of the Probation Manager.

May supervise Probation Officers and volunteers, as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Public Administration, Social Sciences, or other related field.

Two or more years of professional related experience in probation work or other criminal justice area.

Or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Completion of the Adults Services Academy required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

Considerable knowledge of state statutes and regulations relating to probation services; considerable knowledge of electronic monitoring devices and their uses in the probation and criminal justice systems; working knowledge of modern policies and practices of probation services and public administration; considerable knowledge of personal computers including word processing, databases, and spreadsheet applications.

Skill in problem solving and conflict resolution; skill in decision making.

Ability to interpret legal documents, policies, and procedures; ability to manage numerous tasks, assignments, and issues while coping with interruptions and crisis situations; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to handle highly confidential client and court relationships and stressful situations.
