JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for all functions associated with the efficient design, implementation and maintenance of Oracle and SQL Server databases. Must have considerable experience and knowledge with installation, configuration management, security, back-up and recovery procedures. Has knowledge and experience in system design and analysis, client-server architecture, along with relevant technical knowledge of the latest Oracle and SQL Server releases.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Analyzes business application requirements and develops specifications for database construction and maintenance.
· Performs data modeling, normalization and vendor interface.
· Maintains and documents all production databases and interface systems and resolves database performance problems.
· Provides database support services for critical computer applications.
· Maintains archived data on appropriate storage devices.
· Performs database performance monitoring and tuning; controls and monitor user access to the database.
· Plans for backup and recovery of database information.
· Coordinates software evaluation and installation.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Works under the general supervision of the Information Services Supervisor.
No formal supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Database Administration or other related field(s).
Three or more years of progressively responsible related experience in administering Oracle and SQL Server Databases or a related area.
Or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Microsoft Certified Professional training and Oracle or SQL Server certification preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
Skill in troubleshooting computer problems.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
