JOB SUMMARY

This position is located throughout the City in a variety of departments. Generally an incumbent in this position performs a variety tasks related to data manipulation within a software program (typically a database) to provide report generation and systems administration for a specific department or division.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area within a City department which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following tasks:

· Compiles and produces reports and statistical information using report-writing software.

· Works with field personnel to obtain necessary information and ensures system accuracy.

· Gathers data and prepares summary reports.

· Maintains and troubleshoots problems with various automated equipment and applications.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Works under general supervision.

No formal supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Graduation from an accredited two-year or four-year college or university with a degree in business or information systems.

Four or more years of professional related experience in compiling and producing data and reports in an automated environment. Some systems troubleshooting experience preferred.

Or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

Expertise with databases, spreadsheet programs and report writers utilized by the City; expertise in use of the assigned department's primary information systems.

Working knowledge of backroom processes and languages including but not limited to "C," SQL Server and HTML.

Ability to accurately and completely enter data, extrapolate data and create reports and summaries; ability to summarize information verbally and in writing when required.

Ability to troubleshoot systems problems; explaining issues to Information Services staff and vendors; ability to test systems changes.

Knowledge of internet search techniques and ability to obtain information from the internet.

Ability to establish effective working relationships with all levels of staff and vendors.

Ability to train and assist other staff in the use of the department's primary information systems.
