Dear Customer:
Code Publishing Co., in conjunction with the Municipal Research & Services Center, now offers new options for making your municipal code and other public documents searchable on the Web. Using a new search program, NextPage's NXT 3, visitors to your site will be able to locate information easily.
- Search your municipal code. We think that you will find the new HTML interface easier to use than the Folio format on the Web. NXT 3's powerful search engine highlights search terms within the code, and allows users to move from hit to hit.
- Search your ordinances, resolutions, agendas, minutes, council packets, policies, plans and other public documents in any format (HTML, PDF, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Search your entire Web site. NXT 3 can serve as the search engine for your Web site. Using NXT 3's "Find similar" option, users can search the municipal code, and then find related documents on your Web site.
Users can search any of the above individually or search all of them at the same time. For questions regarding the Internet options and pricing, please contact Fred Ward at MRSC (206-625-1300 or fward@mrsc.org).
Here is a link to a Federal Way page that you can search to see how the program works. From the pull-down menu, select either: Search Federal Way Municipal Code or Search Federal Way Web site:

Your code will need to be converted to HTML in order for it to be accessible using NXT 3. The conversion price is $50 per hour. For an average code (350 pages), the cost will be in a range between $300 and $500. More hours are required to convert tables and graphics. The source data for all conversions will be the same files used to print the hard copy supplement. Supplement charges for HTML conversion will be comparable to costs associated with Folio updates. Call us for a cost estimate.
You will be able to link from ordinance citations within the codes to the full text of the ordinance. The cost to include these links is the same hourly rate. The time requirement will vary depending on the file naming structure for ordinances, the number of ordinances cited (e.g., most recent vs. all) etc.
You can continue to use the Folio infobase product with your local network server, or use the HTML files. Please call us for more information. MRSC will continue supporting the Folio 3.x and 4.x products on the Internet through February 2002.
Sincerely,
Margaret Bustion
