ARE YOU AN OIL HEAT USER?
POLLUTION LIABILITY INSURANCE AT NO COST TO YOU
Washington Pollution Liability Insurance Agency (PLIA), July 2003
Do you use oil heat to heat your home or business? If so, you can register your active heating oil tank with the State of Washington Pollution Liability Insurance Agency (PLIA) for an insurance policy that provides up to $60,000 of coverage for cleanup of contamination resulting from an accidental release from your tank. There is no cost to you for this coverage. A fee paid by the heating oil dealers throughout the state is used to fund the administration of the Heating Oil Pollution Liability Insurance Program.
In order to obtain the insurance, you must register with PLIA and in order for cleanup costs to be paid under the insurance policy, you must be registered prior to the start of any accidental release from your tank. PLIA has a registration brochure that includes more information regarding the program as well as the required registration form. You may obtain a registration brochure from your heating oil dealer, or you may call PLIA at 1-800-822-3905 or (360) 586-5997 to request a brochure, or you may download the brochure from PLIA’s website at www.plia.wa.gov. If you would like to confirm if you are already registered or if you have any questions, call PLIA at 1-800-822-3905 or (360) 586-5997.
