Information on Purchasing and Displaying POW/MIA Flags
October 29, 2002
According to Jeff McIntyre, Director of the National POW/MIA Campaign, the Heart of Illinois POW/MIA Association may be least expensive site for purchasing a POW/MIA flag. They don't charge for shipping or postage.
If you are looking for an in-state vendor, the City of Yakima uses "All the King's Flags," at 1-800-255-3690. Their 3 x 5, two-sided flag sells for $46.75. Their single-sided and smaller flags are less expensive. Yakima has had good experience with this Seattle vendor and they apparently send next day service with no shipping charges.
For information on the new law and instructions on how to properly display the flag, see the Washington Department of Veteran's Affairs Web site.
As a side note, we understand that the City of Othello got their local VFW or American Legion chapter to donate the flag. Also, the City of Kennewick is flying the POW/MIA flag with the American flag on a 24/7 basis, rather than have to ensure that the flag is displayed on the six (6) holidays.
