Advanced Level Governmental AccountingPresenter(s): Greg Allison This one-day advanced course focuses on external financial reporting, recent GASB pronouncements, as well as an overview of common reporting problems facing most all government entities. These common reporting problems are reviewed in detailed. An overview of recently-issued GASB pronouncements and a general "GAAP Update" are included. The course agenda is structured around a detailed review of government-wide and fund financial statements. Specialized topics include but not limited to capital asset accounting and financial reporting, cash management, and preparation of a comprehensive annual financial report. This is an excellent course for those that are responsible to implementing new GASB reporting standards or for those that with management and leadership responsibilities within the finance function.
While GASB Statement No. 34 may be considered by many to be "old news", there continue to be many accounting and reporting issues encountered by governmental finance officials on a daily basis. In addition, particular attention will be paid to GASB Statement Nos. 42 (Asset Impairment), 43/45 (OPEB), and 44 (New Statistical Section). There will also be a brief overview of the GASB’s current agenda and accounting and reporting issues that may be on the horizon. CPE - 8 hours Registration fee is $125 (includes lunch) Registration opens at 7:30 AM. Class begins at 8:00 AM and ends at 5:00 PM.
