Start off your Conference week with a round of golf at the "Yakima Elks" course at the Yakima Elks Golf & Country Club facility in Selah, Washington. Yakima Elks is a private club open to Elk members and their guests. The golf course plays to a par 71 for the men ranging in yardage from 5,796 yards from the forward tees to 6,640 yards from the back tees. It plays to a par 74 for the ladies at 5,796 yards. The course rating is 71.2 and it has a slope rating of 122 on blue grass. This private club claims that this is the oldest course in the State of Washington. The fairways are somewhat open, but they are all tree lined. The greens are flat, small, and medium speed. There is water that comes into play on four holes, and there are some sand bunkers positioned throughout the course. The signature hole, nicknamed "Lake Grabenstien" is #14, a 452-yard, par 4, which requires a tee shot over water to the fairway. Come and spend the day swinging in the sun! Winery-hopping in the Yakima Valley is an unforgettable journey of delightful discovery for those seeking the good life and great wines. Across this sun-soaked WA wine region, in the same latitude as the great wine-producing regions of France, magnificent vineyards feature trellises laden with rich grape varietals. Local vintners invite you to savor their prized harvests and collect their handcrafted, award-winning wines.
Mineral-rich soil and entrepreneurial spirit have created a Washington State wine growing culture serious about its product but festive in its presentation. Whether a major producer or limited production, the character each vineyard portrays is as varied as the region's varietals.
