Washington Cities and Counties with Skate Parks

The following information lists cities in Washington that either have a skate park, are developing such a park, or are considering a future skate park. It includes park locations, contact names and phone numbers for cities with existing or nearly completed skate parks as well as brief comments about the facilities. Aberdeen

Auburn

Bellingham

Bellevue

Bremerton

Comments: Opened in August 1996; converted tennis court with two 1/4 pipes, 5 ft launch ramp, concrete pyramid, side rail and small slant ramp.


Bothell

Comments: Opened August 1999. City has use agreement with school district. Park is located on former tennis courts with portable 1/4 pipes, pyramids, grind rail, 1/2 pipe made from pressurized wood and Skatelite surfacing.


Burien

Comments: Opened January 2001. 7,500-square-foot concrete outdoor blade and board skating area with bowls and street features. Designed by Nakano Associates. Cashmere

Colville

Comments: Opened 1999. Outdoor, concrete with wood ramps. 3 quarter pipes, 6 foot mini ramp, a half pipe, spines, a fun box, A pyramid, a grind box, and flat rail.


Deer Park

Comments: Park is asphalt and the decks are Skatelite with galvanized steel coping and frames. It has three start ramps, a fun box, a bauer box, spine, two pyramids, a four foot mini 1/2 pipe, a four foot 1/4 pipe, a six foot 1/4 pipe, a piano, two seprate rails (one shallow kink), and a rail running down one of the start ramps. Unsupervised.


Des Moines

Douglas County

Comments: A converted bumper-boat pool. Contains oval track, ramps, quarter pipes and pyramid. Surrounded by a BMX bicycle track.


Ellensburg

Comments: Outdoor facility; opened spring 1997; construction cost $180,000. Park is 100 ft. by 120 ft. and includes about 10 metal ramps, including a half-pipe, quarter-pipes and 6' mini and 12' vert ramp.


Enumclaw

Comments: Outdoor facility; the 4,125 SF concrete skate court is now complete and in use. Features include full, 3/4 pyramids, step feature, start box ramps designed by the Skaters Committee.


Everett

Comments: Construction of a 9,600 square foot concrete skate park at the northeast corner of the Steel Lake Annex property. The skate park will be a new play structure designed for skate boarders and in-line skaters.


Gig Harbor

Issaquah

Comments: Dedicated in July 1997. Outdoor, Cement. 4 foothorseshoe bowl with coping, hips, a wedge box, pyramid, a long quarter-pipe, a small half-pipe and bankposted. Waiver, recommended apparel, hours: closed at dusk.


Kennewick

Comments: Opened 1998, outdoor, concrete bowl; X-large 4 stair w/ 1 small rail, and one regulation kinker, 1/4 pipe, Bank, and 3 side pyramid, ledge and two wide 1/4 pipe trannies that form an elbow in the corner, box with 1ft, 1 1/2ft, & 2ft high sections.


Kent

Kent (West)

Maple Valley

Marysville

Comments:  $387,000, 10,000-square-foot street-style course skatepark.  Designed by Purkiss Rose RSI of Fullerton, California.  Features include rails, ramps pyramids, drop boxes, steps, a spectator area, and more. Open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.


Mercer Island

Moses Lake

Comments: Positive assessment of facility; outdoor; established 1993. Built in lauch ramp, and a steel covered mini-ramp approx 22 feet wide, a ramp up to a box with a rail back down the other side, a raised slider bar and grindable parking blocks.


Mount Vernon

North Bend

Oak Harbor

Olympia

Comments: 11,500 sq. ft. concrete skating surface. Offers combination freestyle and street features, vertical elements less than or equal to 5 feet, bowl, grinding rails and snake runs.


Omak

Orting

Port Angeles

Renton

Comments: The park includes over 27 rails and ledges, including C-rails and ledges, kinks, and waves, a 12' vert ramp with a 14' roll-in, three mini ramps, with eight spine ramps, banks, roll-ins and launches. Ramps range in size from 3' high to 14' high to challenge all levels of skates and bikers.


SeaTac

Sequim

Comments: Opened September 1999. Outdoor concrete, over 21,600 sq. ft. Has 9' and 8' deep bowls, 9' quarter pipe, two 6' quarter pipes, 5' volcano, 6' pryamid, 5' half pyramid with ledge and rail, spine, flat bank railings and ledge. Cost $250,000. Built to accomodate professional competition.


Shoreline

Park Location: Paramount School Park at NE 155th Street and 8th Avenue NE.

Comments: Scheduled to open Winter 2001. The park was designed by Scott Yamamura and has been designed with a street "feel." The park will be approximately 7,000 square feet and will feature bowls, rails, ledges, fun boxes, stairs, a pyramid, and a simulated picnic table. The park is designed for the most efficiency so you should be able to do all those grinds, ollies, bigspins, and most any other trick you can think of.


Spokane

Comments: The Skate Park finished Phase 1 & 2 construction of the Master Plan. Located under an elevated freeway and property use was negotiated with W.S.D.O.T. The Phase One provided a pyramid with rail and high curb. Phases Two provided a half pipe at two levels (ten and six feet respectfully) with rail and four ramps. Both structures are constructed out of cast and pre cast concrete with inset pipe edges and grouted rails.
There is a Phase Three planned with a completion the return on the half pipe and starting a series of transition areas. Funds are still being raised.


Tacoma

Comments: Open park, concrete and steel ramps. Built 1996. City ordinance prohibits skateboarding in downtown.


Vancouver

Park Location: SWIFT Skate park at Waterworks Park

Comments: Opened Spring 1998; outdoor, 12,000 sq. ft.. Funded by city,county and private groups for in-line skaters and skateboarders. Features one large bowl, two smaller, deeper bowls and street furniture for stunts.


Vashon Island

Comments: The ramps are wooden and covered with Skatelite. The skatepark is always supervised. There is a $2 per session fee for members and $5 for non-members. Annual membership fee is $10. Helmet, elbow and knee pads are required. Signed liability waiver is required, and must be signed by parent/guardian if under 18.

Beginners Only sessions are held every Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 to 2:30
