Slaughtering of Animals in Public View
The general slaughter of animals is controlled by the state through Department of Agriculture regulations. (See Ch. 16-24 WAC and Ch. 16.50 RCW.) However, some local governments have passed provisions prohibiting the slaughtering of animals.
- Bridgeport
- Bridgeport Municipal Code Section 9.34.010 Slaughter or killing of animal or fowl. No person shall kill or slaughter any animal or fowl within the city. A. Exceptions: Any person authorized by the city may dispatch or destroy certain animals or fowl, i.e. injured or vicious (Ord. 388 § 1, 1990)
- Bridgeport Municipal Code Section 9.34.020 - Dressing or butchering. No person shall dress or butcher an animal or fowl so as to unreasonably expose such act or acts to the view of any person or public or private property. (Ord. 388§2, 1990).
