MAYOR-COUNCIL
All 73 towns operate under the mayor-council form or government. There are no towns operating under the council-manager or commission form of government although several have mayor-appointed supervisors with administrative duties.

Mayor, five councilmembers, and treasurer for four-year terms: mayor and treasurer terms overlap as do councilmembers. Offices of treasurer and clerk may be combined. If the office of treasurer is combined with the office of clerk, the clerk-treasurer is appointive; if the office of clerk is combined with the office of treasurer, the office of treasurer-clerk is elective.
