RESOLUTION NO. 01-044

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF KENMORE, WASHINGTON RELATING TO THE USE OF BICYCLE HELMETS AND ENCOURAGING THEIR USE WITH ROLLER SKATES, SKATEBOARDS AND SCOOTERS.

WHEREAS, the Kenmore City Council wishes to provide protection to the youth within our community; and

WHEREAS, there has been an increase in the use of skateboards, roller skates and scooters within our community; and

WHEREAS, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends that helmet use be required for scooters; and

WHEREAS, the Bicycle Helmet Safety Institute recommends the use of helmets for several forms of recreation, including skateboards, roller skates, and scooters;

WHEREAS, the Kenmore City Council has determined that the encouragement of the use of helmets for these sports will help to provide needed protection to those participating in these sports; and

NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Kenmore, Washington do resolve that all persons are encouraged to wear helmets when using skateboards, roller skates and scooters within the City of Kenmore.
